Amber Whittington has always had an interest in photography since childhood. As an adult she entered into the United States Air Force and after 4 years in supply, decided to give photography a chance for her professional career. The Air Force was kind enough to put her through extensive training with some of the best photographers that the military had to offer as well as many respected civilian photographers.
After graduating at the top of her class, she was stationed at Bolling AFB, in Washington, D.C. Being in the nation's capital offered tremendous opportunities to expand Amber's experience and fine tune her photographic skills.
Amber was honored to win 1st place in the DoD Military Photographer of the Year, 2003 competition in the Pictorial Category, and then Honorable Mention in 2004 for the Feature Category. She has also won many smaller competitions along the way.
Amber was also honored to assist the National Capitol Police Intelligence Office with numerous photographic assignments, including many assignments photographing President George W. Bush, as well as many other of our Nations Leaders.
During her free time from photographing for the military and the Capitol Police, she would seek out photographic opportunities. From sporting events to concerts, Amber worked her way in to fine tune her skills. Doing this gave her the experience of photographing professional hockey, basketball, baseball, soccer and football games in both Washington D.C. and Baltimore, MD. She also was thrilled at the opportunity to photograph music legends such as Aerosmith, Trace Adkins, Toby Keith, Montgomery Gentry, Gary Sinse, Good Charlotte, Aretha Franklin, Vanessa Williams and many more.
In November 2005, Amber said good-bye to the active military life, and ventured out into the civilian world. Upon returning home to Colorado Springs, Amber has continued to photograph for the military as a contract photographer for Schriever AFB.
From family portraits to landscapes in the mountains, she's always looking for something new to photograph.
